Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy prices continue rising

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 10 Jan 18 – Currently, mainstream transaction prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy stand at RMB260,000-263,000/t (USD51.78-52.37/lb V) EXW D/P, up by RMB13,000/t (USD2.59/lb V) from last week. Due to tight supply of raw material vanadium pentoxide flake and continuous increase of prices for the material, market participants expect that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would keep continuous uptrend in the coming week.
A producer in South China said, “Now it is hard to purchase raw material vanadium pentoxide flake and large-scale plants almost do not sell goods. Only medium and small-scale producers make offers with incredible increase of prices. The current offer we receive from suppliers of raw material vanadium pentoxide flake 98%min has risen to RMB180,000/t (USD12.78/lb V) EXW D/P.” Affected by increase of raw material prices, their price for vanadium-nitrogen alloy also went up all the way accordingly, and they offer RMB270,000/t (USD53.77/lb V) EXW D/P now but have not concluded any deals at this price. The company plans to sell 10t of vanadium-nitrogen alloy at RMB260,000/t (USD51.78/lb V) EXW D/P, which is in negotiation with downstream buyers. The source expects that prices for Chinese vanadium-nitrogen alloy would rise to RMB280,000/t (USD55.76/lb V) EXW D/P in the coming week.
